Norfolk County Economic Development Earns National Marketing Award

Norfolk County Economic Development has been recognized on the national stage, receiving the Strategic Marketing & Digital Storytelling Award from the Economic Developers Association of Canada (EDAC) for its Down a Norfolk County Road campaign. The award celebrates innovative marketing initiatives that help communities share their stories while supporting economic development objectives.

Developed through a collaboration between Norfolk County Economic Development, filmmaker Daryl Granger of Rose Le Studio, and musician Chris Rait of The Treeline, the campaign combined video, music, and authentic local storytelling to highlight the people, places, businesses, and experiences that make Norfolk County unique. Funding support was provided by Ontario’s Southwest Regional Tourism Organization (RTO1).

The campaign resonated strongly with residents and visitors alike, generating more than 62,000 Facebook views, 410 shares, and 2,300 YouTube views. It was also showcased during the opening ceremonies of the Norfolk County Fair and Horse Show, further amplifying its reach within the community.

In addition to celebrating the award-winning campaign, Norfolk County Economic Development is also recognizing the professional achievements of staff members Lindsay Kalliokoski and Blaire Sylvester, who recently completed the Certificate in Economic Development through the University of Waterloo’s Economic Development Program. The certificate, jointly issued by the University of Waterloo and EDAC, provides economic development professionals with a broad foundation in community and economic development through courses focused on community planning, business development, investment attraction, tourism, marketing, workforce development, and economic analysis. Completion of the program also contributes toward the professional Ec.D. (Certified Economic Developer) designation.

The national award and the continued professional development of its staff reflect Norfolk County Economic Development’s commitment to promoting the region, supporting local businesses, and advancing opportunities that strengthen the community and economy.
