The purpose of the Structural Improvement Grant is primarily to offset the costs associated with structural improvements to the interior of buildings for existing commercial operations.
The Structural Improvement Grant will provide assistance with renovations/retrofits to improve accessibility (Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act), Building Code and Fire Code Standards and health and safety features of the facility.
It is intended to upgrade the physical conditions of buildings to improve their safety, accessibility and efficiency.
The grant amount available for this program is up to five thousand dollars ($5,000) per property (excluding HST), based on a fifty/fifty (50/50) matching cash contribution of the Applicant.
The program is available in the urban, hamlet, agricultural, and lakeshore areas.
The program is available to property owners only. Tenants are not eligible. Participants in the Agricultural Buildings and Facilities Improvement Grant are also not eligible.
The following eligibility requirements shall apply to the Structural Improvement Grant:
Maximum grant amount is five thousand dollars ($5,000) one-time per property (excluding HST) and is based on a fifty/fifty (50/50) matching cash contribution of the applicant. In-kind contributions are not eligible contributions.
The grant will be payable upon completion of the works, submission of paid invoices, proof of payment (cancelled cheques or bank records), and final inspection of any works covered by the program.
