Meet Scout: From Sketch to Beloved Norfolk Mascot
Remember Scout? If you missed our earlier blog, let us catch you up. Scout started as a simple sketch by local artist Will Welsh – a cheerful Canada Warbler who was meant to represent everything wonderful about Norfolk County. What began as drawings on paper soon transformed into our beloved business and tourism mascot, and honestly, none of us expected what happened next.
Scout captured hearts faster than we could have imagined. Visitors started asking where they could get their own Scout, families wanted to bring him home, and kids would light up whenever they spotted him at events around the county. It became clear that Scout wasn’t just a mascot anymore – he was becoming part of people’s Norfolk memories.
That’s when we realized Scout was ready for his biggest adventure yet: finding families to call his own.
The Scout Adoption Kit: More Than Just a Souvenir
Introducing the Scout Adoption Kit – because yes, you can now officially adopt your very own Scout to take home. For visitors, this isn’t just another souvenir; it’s a way to keep that Norfolk magic alive long after your visit ends. For locals, Scout represents the pride we feel in calling Norfolk home – a symbol of our community that we’re excited to share with the world. Each adoption kit includes an adorable 8-inch Scout stuffie that’s perfect for cuddles, an official adoption certificate to make it official, and a collector’s card packed with fun facts about Scout’s adventures around our beautiful county.
